Rock FM Paris to Blackpool Bike Ride Completed!
Congratulations to the Rock FM cycling team who completed a gruelling 460-mile ride from the Eiffel Tower to Blackpool Tower on Friday 28 August 2009.
Forty-six riders, including the presenter of Rock FM’s breakfast show Adam Catterall, endured the 6-day ‘Tower 2 Tower’ challenge. The exhausted but elated participants were welcomed home by family, friends and crowds of Rock FM listeners on a windy and rain-swept North Pier, Blackpool. In total the team expect to raise over £30,000 for The Children’s Society’s Lancashire Children’s Rights project to continue their work with young runaways.
At the finishing line, the project manager, Pauline Geraghty, was joined on stage by young people who have been helped by its work, Emily, Gemma and Jen. Their interviews were aired on the Preston-based radio station as part of the ‘Tower 2 Tower’ appeal and received a huge response from listeners all over the North West of England. Pauline and the girls addressed the crowd of exhausted cyclists and with a resounding ‘THANK YOU’.
