Join in the summer fun at The Children's Society
Western Corner, The Children's Society's community project for disabled children and young people in West Oxfordshire, will mark its 25th anniversary with a special celebration on 18 July from 1-4 p.m.
The Summer Fun Day, which will include raffle prizes donated by local businesses, is a chance for the project, users, staff, volunteers supporters and the local community to enjoy an afternoon of festivities, while raising awareness for the project. Members of the local police, fire brigade, and the Children’s Centre have been invited to the celebration. Penny Nicholls, Director for Children and Young People at The Children’s Society will be joining the project on the day.
'This is an impressive milestone for the Western Corner,' says Penny. 'The project has always been a valuable resource for the disabled children and young people in this community and I am looking forward to celebrating it’s 25th anniversary'.
Operating out of two converted houses on the Burwell Farm estate in Witney, Western Corner has worked with disabled children and young people who have moderate or severe learning impairments and/or complex needs, for over two decades. The project has also hosted activities for these children's siblings, as well as worked in local schools to promote disability awareness and inclusion. Currently, the project is setting up a provision of holiday activities and a Specialist Enabler scheme across Oxfordshire.
