Iain Archer holds exclusive gig for The Children’s Society at Greenbelt
Irish singer-songwriter Iain Archer held an exclusive gig in support of The Children’s Society at the Greenbelt festival.
The gig aimed to highlight the charity’s Make Runaways Safe campaign. A hundred lucky people won tickets to the intimate gig after signing up to the campaign and entering a prize draw.
In the UK, around 100,000 children under the age of 16 run away from home each year. The Make Runaways Safe campaign was launched in July in a bid to ensure that children and young people who go missing have a safety net.
The Children’s Society also ran a number of seminars, conversations and activities at Greenbelt. These were devised to highlight some issues faced by children and young people today. These issues included running away from home or care, as well as children's well-being.
Greenbelt is a Christian arts festival attended by over 20,000 people each summer. The festival boasts over 650 events including music, comedy, poetry, talks and drama.
Nigel Varndell, The Children’s Society’s Director of Church Partnerships, said: ‘There has been a long history of great music being used to promote great causes. It is pleasing that The Children’s Society and Iain Archer can add to this legacy”. ’
