Concerning report on running away and child sexual exploitation
Commenting on the publication of a report from Paradigm Research and Barnardo's on the link between running away and child sexual exploitation, Ellen Broome, Policy Director at The Children's Society, said:
'This is a very welcome report, which reflects much of what we see in our programmes that support runaway children. The children we work with are very vulnerable, often running away from abuse and neglect. While running away, all too often they come into contact with people who don’t have their best interests at heart, and seek to exploit them.
'And the report also highlights that there are many barriers to these children getting the help they need from professionals. It is vitally important that local agencies recognise the link between running away and sexual exploitation, and act to keep these children safe.'
