Children urged to take the 'Happy-ometer' test for new well-being research

21 February 2012

The Children’s Society today launched a new well-being section on The Kids’ Zone www.thekidszone.org.uk - our website created by young people, for young people.

Our well-being research programme has asked thousands of children questions about different parts of their lives, to find out how happy they are in general, and what makes the biggest difference to their well-being.

Emma Callagher, Digital Marketing Manager at The Children's Society, said: 'This new well-being section on the website encourages children and young people to find out more about well-being, and tell us how they feel.

'Exciting new elements include the Moodbook game, which is a really fun way for young people to playfully express themselves by creating a cartoon "mood" character.'

Other new items include the Happy-ometer, a survey based on the Good Childhood Index that allows young people to compare their score with the national average and an educational quiz about well-being.

The Children's Society is encouraging people to share these tools with young people you are working with, as well as family and friends.

We are committed to helping vulnerable and disadvantaged young people, including children in care and young runaways. We give a voice to disabled children, help young refugees to rebuild their lives and provide relief for young carers. Through our campaigns and research, we seek to influence policy and perceptions so that young people have a better chance in life.
