40 years of Christingle

16 October 2008

Preparations for this year’s 40th anniversary Christingle celebrations are well underway and we’re pleased to announce that this season’s new Christingle resources are now available to order free of charge and include:

· Interactive activities and ideas – stories, discussion ideas and games – developed by the Church of England’s Children’s Work Advisers and suitable for exploring Christingle with children and young people;

· All-age worship materials for Advent, Christmas and Epiphany – thought provoking service suggestions, hymns and readings;

· Christingle making and fundraising materials – wax candles, red tape, collection candles and envelopes, invitation and safety posters and stickers.

Christingle is a wonderful, candlelit celebration, which places children at its heart and helps us to shine a light into darkness for the thousands of children we support. Held between Advent and Epiphany, Christingle enables us to bring together friends, families, young and old, allowing us to explore the cornerstone messages of the Christian faith and put the Christian value of charity into action.

Our Create-a-Christingle magazine contains useful information on how to organise your own celebration, how the money raised through Christingle has made a difference to children over the past 40 years, plus pull out resources for exploring the main themes of Christingle with children and young people.

By organising your own anniversary celebration and raising money through Christingle, you will help us to build a society where children are not forgotten and childhood is valued, respected and supported.
