Video: Thank you for making our Christmas Crowdfunder campaign a success
Back in October we launched a pilot project on Crowdfunder, a social funding website where supporters were able to pledge between £5 and £100 towards our Christmas Wish List. Our aim was to raise £1500 to buy Christmas presents for some of the children and young people we work with, many of whom come from disadvantaged backgrounds.
We hit our target in just four and a half weeks, meaning we were able to deliver some fantastic gifts and experiences to 18 of our centres just in time for Christmas.
The presents included everything from books and jigsaw puzzles to shopping vouchers and even a brand new toy kitchen. Some centres used the money to put on a fabulous Christmas party, where the children were able to celebrate the festive season together.
Take a look at this video from one of our children's centres in Dunstable. The Wish List team stopped by their Christmas party to deliver some fantastic new toys, including musical instruments, car sets and books. It's heart-warming to see how delighted the children are. The video also contains a special thank you from early years practitioner Sandra, who explains what it means to the centre to have new toys to share and learn with.
Our programmes and projects across the country include children’s centres, drop-in services, support for young runaways and work with young carers. Many of the children and young people we support come from families that have very little income and cannot buy Christmas presents.
Thank you to each and every person who pledged to our Crowdfunder project. Because of you, we were able to help make the holiday season special for disadvantaged children across the country.
