Before she takes part in the Lite@Nite kids triathlon this Sunday, Bryony explains the big reasons why she’ll be swimming, cycling and running

We’re proud to share this story by Bryony, one of our youngest fundraisers. This weekend she will take part in a Lite@Nite triathlon in Bristol. Lite@Nite is part of our fundraising project with Thistle Hotels, which is hosting and taking part in inspiring events to support us and four other charities.

Bryony's story

My name is Bryony and I am 9 years old. On Sunday 1 September, I am taking part in my first triathlon at the Lite@Nite kids triathlon in Bristol.

Bryony on her bicycleWhy do I like sport?

I like sport because it gets me out and about plus it keeps me fit and healthy. It is also a great opportunity to get outdoors and enjoy nature.

My favourite sports are cycling, kayaking, running, rock climbing and swimming. I also do Taekwondo twice a week at a local club.

What challenges have I done for The Children’s Society?

When I was three years old I walked three miles in a sponsored walk and raised over £200.

This summer I cycled 35 miles with my dad along our local canal and raised £106. It was hard and a very hot day. The promise of going to my favourite Chinese restaurant kept me going to the end. I was determined because I wanted to feel good about reaching the finish and raising lots of money.

Thank you to everyone who has donated every penny she raises will make a big difference. So although she has reached her initial target she wants to raise as much as possible.
