Two-thirds of families living in the UK today – that's five million families – are likely to turn their heating down because of the high cost of their energy bills.

Yet it’s currently up to energy companies' discretion whether these struggling families receive the warm home discount, worth £135 per year to help pay for energy bills. As our new report, Behind Cold Doors: The chilling reality for children in poverty shows, nearly two million children in poverty are currently living in families that do not get this crucial support.

Please email your MP and ask the government to ensure no child’s health suffers because of a cold home.

Use our calculator: Are you below the fuel poverty line?

If you spend more than 10% of your money on energy bills then you could be in fuel poverty. And you’re not alone. This winter 930,000 families with 1.6 million children are trapped in this situation.

Are you worried you too could be caught in fuel poverty?

Put your details into our fuel poverty calculator belowand we’ll work it out for you.

We should explain what the calculator does. People can add information in the top two fields and determine whether they are in fuel poverty.
