Crying out for justice

The third week of Advent traditionally focuses on John the Baptist, whose message of repentance may be as hard for us to hear today as it was for his first listeners.
As his cries for justice echo across centuries, we consider where we need to speak out to make the crooked paths straight and the rough ways smooth, so that all flesh shall know God’s goodness and salvation.
A prayer around Luke 3: 7-18
Lord who calls us to repentance,
in the sharing of our wealth,
the rejection of greed
and the bearing of good fruit;
Help us to be a light in your world,
through reckless generosity,
selfless service,
and a desire to be good news
to all your children.
Amen
