Yesterday afternoon, a small group of our Young Carers in Focus champions met with the Children’s Commissioner, Maggie Atkinson, to discuss ways of sharing information with her.

Maggie Atkinson and MelissaMelissa, a Young Carers in Focus champion, wrote a fantastic blog post about the meeting. She said: 'It was a brilliant opportunity meeting Maggie Atkinson. She's really supporting young carers. She knows what we need and how to do it. Its great that she recognises that support in schools needs to be consistent.'

About Young Carers in Focus

Our Young Carers in Focus (YCiF) programme, funded by the Big Lottery Fund, gives young carers a voice so they can share their experiences and improve public understanding about the issues they face. More than 200 children are being recruited as 'champions' to help raise awareness.

Messages from YCiF will reach 450,000 young people in over 9000 schools over four years, through the YCIF section of the Makewaves website

Please visit the website for great stories and videos by young carers.
