Metro Radio's 'Cash for Kids’ trek to Machu Picchu launches this Friday 13 May
The Children's Society's work with young runaways is set to receive a huge boost from one of the biggest radio stations in the country, as Tony Horne, breakfast presenter at Metro Radio, has pledged to raise £30,000 for our SCARPA programme in Newcastle by climbing Peru's Machu Picchu.
The 'Cash for Kids' campaign with Newcastle-based Metro Radio, of Bauer Media, will take a team of 25 on a trek to Machu Picchu, the fabled 'Lost City of The Incas', in Peru on Friday 13 May. Listeners will be able to follow the trekkers as they attempt their challenge in the mountains of South America to raise money for The Children’s Society.
Our link up with Metro Radio is a major coup for The Children's Society as around 400,000 listeners who tune in each week will hear about the work that we do.
Louise, a volunteer at SCARPA, will be taking part and you can show your support by sponsoring her at www.justgiving.com/InkatrekLouise.
