Action for Happiness and The Children’s Society

16 May 2011

Action for Happiness is a movement of people committed to building a happier society. We all want to see people enjoying a different way of life where everyone cares less about what they can get and more about what they can give.

Action for Happiness will encourage its members to make a simple pledge: to try to create more happiness in the world around them through the way they approach their lives.  They will provide practical ideas to enable people to take action in different areas of their lives - at home, at work or in the community.

Do good – feel good

Doing good is one of the best ways to feel good. People who care more about others are happier than those who care less about others. When people do good, their brain becomes active in the same reward centre as where they experience other rewards.

Here’s a few ideas for things you could do to help The Children’s Society, and help yourself feel happier:

Donate to us
Over the years we have supported thousands of children, helping to change their lives for the better – something we wouldn’t have been able to do if it weren’t for the much-needed contributions we receive from the public. So please help us to carry  on making a difference – make a donation today!

Fundraise for us
Each year, over 20,000 supporters give their time to raise over £5 million for The Children's Society. There are many events and activities you can take part in, such as running a marathon to more genteel pusuits like hosting a coffee morning, or becoming a collection box holder

Remember, doing good makes you feel good, and as the Dalai Lama says ‘Happiness is not something ready made.  It comes from your own actions’.
