Lily joined The Children's Society in November 2011 as Campaigns and Media Director and has subsequently taken on the leadership of our wider Strategy and Policy directorate. Lily is responsible for strategic oversight of our campaigns, media, policy and public affairs, research and church partnerships work, as well as coordinating external and internal communications.
She oversees strategy development for the wider organisation working with the executive team and trustee board. Lily has led major campaigns such as our Fair and Square campaign to extend free school meals to all children in poverty.
Before joining The Children's Society, Lily was Head of Communications at the leading mental health charity Rethink Mental Illness, responsible for media relations, digital communications, marketing and brand. She also led public relations for the Time to Change social marketing campaign, England's most ambitious programme to change attitudes and end mental health discrimination.
Prior to her roles in campaigns and communications in the charity sector, Lily undertook legal training and worked in a not-for profit community law centre. Specialising in welfare rights and advising on a range of related legal issues she represented clients at court and tribunal in London.
Lily is a passionate and committed campaigner and advocate for children and young people with a particular interest in tackling child poverty and inequality of opportunity. She holds a first class degree in communications with comparative literature, a post-graduate diploma in law and has studied with the Chartered Institute for Public Relations.
