Gwyther Rees
Research Director
Gwyther Rees leads The Children’s Society’s in-house research team which conducts robust, child-centred research on a range of topics affecting children. It has become a leading UK research team on a number of issues, including running away, child protection issues for older children, and children’s subjective well-being.
Gwyther has written extensively on the above topics. Recent publications include:
- A co-authored book on Adolescent Neglect (Jessica Kingsley Publishers)
- Still Running 3 – our most recent survey report on the scale of running away amongst young people
- The Good Childhood Report 2012
He regularly presents findings from The Children’s Society’s research at local and national conferences, and seminars. Gwyther is also a visiting Research Associate at the Social Policy Research Unit, University of York and a member of a group of researchers developing Children’s Worlds – an international survey of children’s well-being.
