The Children's Society and Ecclesiastical Insurance today call on 20,000 people to take a simple action to make childhood better for the children in their families and communities. For every person who pledges to undertake a simple action, long term charity partner Ecclesiastical will donate £1 to help the charity’s work with disadvantaged children up to the value of £20,000.
Twenty thousand people can therefore be part of a movement to improve the lives of children, and raise £20,000, at no financial cost to themselves. Pledges range from driving more slowly around neighbourhoods so children have safer routes to and from school to donating unwanted clothes to a charity shop- so there is something that everyone can do to make childhood better.
The Children’s Society and Ecclesiastical are inviting everyone to make a positive change for children by visiting the ‘Take Action’ webpage: www.thegoodchildhood.com/pledge.
The 'Take Action' initiative follows the publication of the final report from The Good Childhood Inquiry®, managed by The Children's Society, earlier this year, which emphasised that every individual has a role to play in making childhood better for all children.
Steve Wood, UK and Ireland Managing Director at Ecclesiastical, said: "In our opinion charitable support isn't just about financial backing, it's about supporting the causes charities are fighting for. We're delighted to be truly behind The Children’s Society's work to make childhood better and we hope we can make it even more successful."
Liz Showell, Fundraising Director at The Children’s Society, comments: “This is a perfect way for members of the public to make a positive difference to the lives of children and young people. Thanks to Ecclesiastical’s generous support, twenty thousand actions will be taken to make childhood better and £20,000 of vital funds will be raised for our work”.
