The Children’s Society centre in Ryde has been given a Grade 1 after an unannounced visit by Ofsted earlier in February. The centre, which IW Council is responsible for but has been run on a daily basis by The Children's Society since April 2010, was described as giving families excellent support while helping to improve the lives and outcomes for children.

Centre Manager Claire Steen said ‘We are proud to have achieved an outstanding Ofsted judgement and feel this is as a result of the strong partnerships with other agencies and the expertise within the team enabling us to shape services to meet individual family’s needs.  We are constantly building a better understanding of our community through reflecting on practice and data, consulting with our service users and involving parents in service delivery and development as volunteers ensuring services are making a difference for families.’

Penny Nicholls, Director of Children and Young People from The Children's Society said ‘ We are delighted at the outcome of the Ofsted report. The Centre has established services to meet the needs of the wider community from Ryde through to Bembridge. Participation is key to all the work that we do and we are very pleased that this has been recognised’.

Warm congratulations to everyone at the centre.
