Immigration Bill threatens support for care leavers
Today’s report by the Local Government Ombudsman finds Greenwich Council’s support for a migrant care leaver failed to provide her with the help she needed in resolving her immigration status. This shines a light on how important it is to consider a young person’s status early on. With changes coming through in the Immigration Bill, resolving a young person’s status early and providing them with a lasting solution will become even more critical. Tomorrow members of the House of Lords have an opportunity to make sure other care leavers are protected and able to achieve their potential.
