Statistically sound summer fun and the Big Summer DO

I've often suspected that my idea of summer fun - creating interactive charts and graphs - doesn't align with most people's idea of warm-weather enjoyment, and now we have some stats to prove that.

Over the next several days we're going to look at the results of a survey we organised that asked 1000 people about their childhood memories, summertime games, and what it's like being a child growing today.

Help bring back childhood this summer

Our first survey question was:

Do you think it’s tougher growing up now compared to your own childhood?

blue Yes, a lot tougher 39%
orange Yes, but only slightly tougher 29.7%
green No 31.3%

The percentages are visualised in our colourful collection of shapes below. It's interactive, too - you should be able to move each one, knocking it into the others or zooming it around however you would like.

We conducted our survey as part of our Big Summer DO campaign, which is all about getting together with friends, family and your community and having fun while raising money to support our work.

By holding a Big Summer DO, you raise money to support our work to improve children's lives and help them, too, have happy summer memories.

Our video illustrates this really well. Please watch and get involved.

It is all depend on the weather. If the weather is in its worst condition then there is no need to play outside but if it is normal we can play outdoor games.
