Sir David Jason is one of the many stars from the worlds of entertainment and sport to voice their support for the 10th anniversary of The Young Carers Festival.
Organised jointly by The Children’s Society and YMCA the Young Carers Festival is the only festival of it’s kind in the world dedicated to offering young carers respite from their day to day responsibilities.
Sir David is joined by host of stars including Dame Helen Mirren, Rebecca Adlington OBE, Ryan Giggs, Pam Ferris, Theo Walcott, Rick Edwards, Jo Brand, Roxanne Pallett, Chris Tarrant, Paul O’Grady and JLS’s Oritse Williams all of whom have sent messages of support and congratulations on the Festival’s 10th anniversary.
Sir David said, “ Young carers play a vital role in their families and I would like to acknowledge their commitment and dedication. They are remarkable people who do not always receive the recognition they deserve.”
Dame Helen said, “ I know for many young carers the festival is their only chance to come together, chill out and meet friends while enjoying a weekend away from everyday responsibilities. I hope this year gives everyone all that and much, much more.”
The 10th Young Carers Festival takes place 26-28 June 2009 to give this forgotten group of children a moment to enjoy their childhood and a chance to have their voices heard. Visit www.childrenssociety.org.uk/youngcarers for more information.
