Over the rainbow celebration event
What’s it all about?
Pot of Gold is basically a pot of money that children and young people from The Children's Society's projects can apply for. The money is used for organising fun group activities.
Who decides what the money gets spent on?

The Pot Of Gold committee is a group of children and young people from three of The Children's Society projects; The Children's Society in Rochdale, Lancashire Children Rights Service, Warrington Children and Young People's Participation project. More young people from Unity in Partington are joining the committee soon. If you’d like to find out more about these projects or any projects that The Children’s Society runs, you can search for them by using the find us near you button on the right hand side of this screen.
The projects have been working together since November 2006.
Things the young people do include:
- Coming up with the name of the committee
- Designing the application forms
- Deciding how they were going to distribute money - how much money and where it would be spent.
This involved lots of talking, listening and compromise.
Over the Rainbow
Over The Rainbow was a Celebration Event the young people organised to ask everyone who had received money what they had done with their ‘pot of gold’ and what differences it had made.
