Gold for The Children's Society at Chelsea

23 May 2008

This week The Children's Society Garden won GOLD at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show!

About the designer

The Children's Society Garden was designed by Mark Gregory and is based on the environment. Winning designer Mark said: "The Children's Society Garden looks to the future. Our garden aims to inspire adults to explore utilising their front garden space for their families and the environment - giving children a space to enjoy their childhood".

What's the garden look like?

The garden includes vertical bicycle storage, water harvesting facilities, waste and recycling storage. Plants are self seeding and have been chosen to attract bees, birds and butterflies.

And not only that...

....TV presenter Melinda Messenger and The Wombles popped by to say hello and support The Children's Society.

Melinda said "I'm so chuffed to be at the Chelsea Flower Show this year supporting The Children's Society Garden. It's great the charity wants to make front gardens green again. As a mother I think it's really important that we can create safe, fun spaces for our kids to spend time and learn about the environment...."
