Eldene Children's Centre
Location
Centre manager: Nickey Bishop
Eldene Children's Centre is funded by Sure Start. At Eldene we offer a one-stop shop of services for all families with children living in Eldene, Nythe, Covingham, Dorcan and Liden.
We aim to support families to give their children the best start and the best outcomes in life, by improving health, education and quality of life. All parents, carers, guardians, grandparents, child minders, foster parents and nannies, who look after children up to five years old can use the centre. However, if your child/children are above this age range, we are more than happy to point you in the right direction.
Eldene Children's Centre runs drop-in activities, training and courses with a crèche, play sessions, advice sessions. We have access to various services, including health visitors, doctors, dentists, midwifery, affordable childcare, family information services, training and employment advice, legal support, and speech and language services.
In June 2010 we held a Good Childhood Conversation event with families in our area to get a better idea of what a good childhood means for our community. We have also run well-attended summer holiday activities with local schools and the neighbourhood policing team. These included a circus play and fun event, a fun under the sea event, a creepy crawley fun event and our summer picnic.
We are currently working in partnership with Plant Life UK to further develop outdoor play in The Children's Society's children’s centres. We are about to launch new outdoor stay and play and music groups.
