Children in care are some of the most vulnerable children in our communities. At Christmas time, they can feel more lonely and desperate than ever. They often wish they could spend time with their biological families, and feel like an outsider as their foster families celebrate the festive season.

This was how Liam felt last Christmas. Following the death of his mum, he lived with three different foster families in the space of a year.

Finally, as Christmas approached, he felt he had to get away. He ran away on Boxing Day and then twice again in January. But then he met Sally, one of our project workers, and things started to change.

Your donation really matters

By giving today to Liam’s Christmas appeal and supporting the work of our project workers, you can help a child in care like Liam flourish and build up their self-confidence.

A project worker is independent of the care system and provides the kind of compassion, warmth and support that children in care need. (Read more about Liam's story.)
