Axe Valley Children’s Centre is in Seaton and supports families across an area of almost 950 children in the surrounding villages and both market towns of Seaton and Axminster.

We offer somewhere for parents and carers to meet, play with their children and learn together. Families can come to us for support and advice on any aspect of family life and get information on health, child development, parenting and education as well as employment, housing and finance. Our main focus is on young children from 0 to 5 years but we also have programmes to support parents.

Honiton and the greater East Devon area

Including Honiton Children’s Centre’s two sites, there are seven children’s centres serving families in East Devon. They include two sites in Exmouth, run by the Exmouth and District Children’s Centre and one in Honiton (also part of The Children’s Society). There are other Children’s Centres in Ottery St Mary, Sidmouth and Clyst Vale.

2gether funding

Your two year old could get free childcare and early learning support. 2gether funding entitles some two year olds in Devon to 15 hours of free childcare and early learning each week. The scheme helps improve children’s learning and development, gives them the chance to make new friends and have lots of fun in an approved childcare setting such as a day nursery, child-minder or preschool.

Eligibility

Your child is eligible if the family is receiving certain benefits, has a household income under £16,190, or if your child has a disability, special educational need or if they are adopted or placed under a residency order. To apply visit www.devon.gov.uk/2gether or call 0345 155 1013.

Childminding

Is childminding for you? Would you like a career change? Does the prospect of running you own business in your own home and working with children appeal to you?

Becoming a registered childminder is an incredibly rewarding career with all the benefits of home-based working. Childminders work in their own homes, caring for other people’s children, providing plenty of opportunities to develop and learn through play. They can look after children from birth to 14 and become a well-respected and important part of families’ lives, managing a friendly, business-like relationship with parents.

There is a shortage of registered childminders in the Devon area, so to find out more information and register an interest please phone Erika Lincoln on 07500 331 682 or email erika@noelquinn.co.uk

Devon County Council also have information for childminders.
