Bishop Tim Stevens, the Bishop of Leicester, joined the Trustee Board as President in October 2001. He was appointed Chairman of the Trustee Board in September 2004.
Michael Williams is and Editor and media consultant and brings a wealth of expertise to the Board having led many charity appeals for newspapers.
Previously a vicar in Hackney, London, Chris has been Adviser for Social Justice in the Anglican Diocese of London for six years. Chris is a member of the Standards Committee.
Helen worked for HM Treasury after leaving university, initially as a statistician and more recently as a policy adviser. Helen serves on the Standards Committee.
Jenny joined the Trustee Board in September 2003. She is a qualified barrister, and was a founder member of Coram Chambers, a specialist Family Law chambers in Temple, London. Jenny serves on the Standards Committee.
Jenny has lived and worked in North-East England since 1977. She is a trained teacher of geography and moved into managing Local Authority education services in 1987.
Tobin serves on the Finance Committee and on the Fundraising Sub-committee. With an MBA in Marketing and Business and current Director of Supporter Relationship Management (SRM) at WWF-UK, Tobin brings to our Trustee Board more than twenty years' experience in charity marketing and fundraising.
James is a Chartered Insurance Practitioner and is a partner at JLTAgnewHiggins, a Lloyds Broker, having previously been Senior Vice President at Marsh Marine & Energy, the international insurance brokers. James serves on the Finance Committee.
Richard Mann was co-opted as a trustee in December 2007. Richard is retired and previously worked for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution for 31 years.
Sarah is the Chief Operating Officer at Whitehead Mann with responsibility for clients, people and knowledge. She is a member of the firm’s Executive Committee.
Claudia is Chair of Operation Trident, an anti-gun crime initiative that she founded with others in 1998. She is also a board member of London Crimestoppers and a member of the Home Secretary’s round table on guns, gangs and knives.
Sylvia Thomson has worked in the private, public and voluntary sectors. She has been a member of the Finance Committee since October 2006 and the Standards Committee since January 2008. She became a Trustee and The Children's Society’s Honorary Treasurer in September 2009.
