Annual Report and Accounts 2007/2008

Let us show you how we make childhood better

Our Annual Report and Accounts look back at the last year and the progress we are making towards our mission to make childhood better.

It's been an exciting year - we hope you'll enjoy finding out about our key achievements and the people who make all our work possible.

Please note the annual report and accounts are in draft format and will be presented to The Children's Society members for their approval at the Annual General meeting on 25 September 2008.

This year we have:

  • Provided specialist support at a local level for children and young people.
  • Worked in children’s centres, schools and churches to help more children.
  • Influenced everyone about how to create real change with our thought-provoking research.
  • Attracted large public support and make institutions take action to make childhood better.

In 2009 we will:

  • Increase our local based children’s service by 25%.
  • Publish the final results of The Good Childhood Inquiry.
  • Expand our pioneering national mentoring initiative to help 500 more children.
  • Play a role in developing with the government for safe accommodation for children who runaway from home
  • Publish the first ever research on well-being involving 9000 children.

As always, our Annual Report aims to provide you with a clear picture of where our money comes from and how we spend it. This year our annual report was given 78% on transparency by Intelligentgiving.com - an independent web site that rates charities.
