Working with the church

Our long history with  The Church of England enables The Children’s Society to operate at a national level, working with the Bishops in the House of Lords, the networks of Children's and Youth Work Advisers, the Board of Education and General Synod and at a local level with Dioceses and parishes across England to bring about positive change in the lives the children of this country.

In particular we have worked with the children’s work advisors and the National Worship Development Officer of the Liturgical Commission to produce a number of resources and service outlines to encourage children’s and young people’s involvement in worship. For examples click here for Christingle, a Christmas celebration and Leaves of Life, an Eastertide message of ‘new life’ with children.

We also work with Children’s and Youth work Advisors in various Dioceses to support them in their work with children and young people.

Much of our work is undertaken by individual supporters in parishes around the country, through:

  • Fundraising committees
  • Organising collections and house boxes
  • Speaking on behalf of The Children’s Society
  • Co-ordinating volunteers

We are only able to continue our work through the generosity of these supporters and volunteers. All the time and effort put in at a local level allows us to concentrate our work where the need is greatest and not just in areas where government funding is available.
