Working for the church
The Children's Society is working with a number of Dioceses and individual churches to develop new partnership projects to extend their ministries with vulnerable and hard to reach groups of children and young people.
When developing new partnerships, we bring over 125 years of experience working with, and for, children and young people, some of our own financial resources raised by our supporters and our skills in attracting external funding from trusts and other statutory bodies. When matched with the Church's vast experience with children and young people, it’s national and local presence and the compassion and faith of the body of believers we can work together to help give children and young people the childhoods they deserve
In the past year we have worked with the dioceses of Birmingham, Blackburn, Bradford, Canterbury, Coventry, Durham, Exeter, Leicester, Lichfield, London, Oxford, Peterborough, Ripon and Leeds, Newcastle, Rochester, Southall and Nottingham and Southwark to explore new partnership possibilities, to support them in young people’s participation events or to advise and assist churches in their own direct work with children and young people.
In addition, we are working closely with The National Society and the Board of Education to provide direct services in Church of England schools and Academies; particularly where they have taken over failing schools in very socially deprived areas of England.
