What is Leaves of Life?
Leaves of Life is an event for all ages focusing on the Eastertide messages of 'new life' and is a way of harnessing children's views to create positive change in your community for children and young people. Central to the event is a range of activities for children's groups and schools focused on the symbolic image of the 'Tree of Life'. Children are asked what they'd like to thank God for in their lives and what they'd like to see change and then to write or draw their thoughts on a prayer leaf. These are hung on a 'Tree of Life' for all to see and reflect on during the service and afterwards.
Why get involved?
There are many benefits of Leaves of Life to the Church and your children's ministry, it can help you to:
- engage children in worship through children's group and school activities between Easter and Pentecost.
- reflect both individually and as a parish on what you'd like to thank God for and what you'd like to see changed in your community through the completion of prayer leaves.
- share the Easter messages of the Resurrection and the coming of the Holy Spirit with the wider community.
- go out in the spirit and respond to the prayers of children written on their leaves.
Leaves of Life will help everyone in your parish celebrate both Easter and Pentecost, and challenge your church to bring the Gospel message to life. And the community benefits too - by listening to children's prayers and forging stronger relationships, we can take action together to ensure all children have the childhood they deserve
