Jointly developed by a group of children's work advisers, the national worship development officer for the Church of England and The Children's Society, these materials have been designed to help make the organisation of your Leaves of Life event as easy as possible. Please remember to register where and when you are holding your service.
The resources are based around the theme of the 'Tree of Life', a powerful symbol of God's blessing and renewal. They can support your church in encouraging more children to share in worship and spread the word of God in the wider community. Listed below are the free materials you can download to support your event.
Children's activity resources:
- Children's group leader's guide with suggestions for bible, reflection and outdoor group activities.
- Schools guide including fun activities for the classroom and collective worship Stories and visuals to support the activities suggested in our children's group leader's guide and schools guide.
- Prayer leaf templates for children to express their hopes and concerns about their community in words or pictures.
Celebration service resources:
- Celebration service outline for use or adapt to create a unique event.
- Celebration service talk notes including ideas for your Leaves of Life sermon.
- Hymn and song suggestion for the celebration service or schools collective worship with new life themes.
- Donation envelopes if you would like to hold a collection to support The Children's Society's work with vulnerable children.
Publicity resources:
- Parish magazine article to help you promote the event.
- Invitation letters so you can invite friends from the community.
- A4 posters to advertise your event to the local community.
After the event:
- Thank you letter to thank those who came along.
- "Going out in the Spirit" guide with ideas of how to create positive change from the reflections on the children's prayer leaves.
