As All Hallows eve 2008 has passed, we are grateful to all those who got involved in Halloween Choice and ran activities in their parish. Please do get in touch with us with photos or stories about the activities. You can still use the resources during the rest of All Saints tide and we will be reviewing them for 2009, looking to see how we can improve them for your use.
Background information:
The great Feast of All Saints is too often overshadowed by the once related but now secular celebration of Halloween, the original Christian significance of which has been lost.
Working in partnership with The Church of England, building on the Halloween Choice campaign, we can provide resources to help you to explore the Christian meaning/teaching of All Saints alongside children and young people. Once more we are grateful to the National Worship Development Officer for helping us to pull together seasonal worship materials.
The suggested activities essentially involve a church celebration of All Saints and a procession of light ending in a community party. Children can dress up in costumes – maybe as modern-day heroes or ‘saints’ such as nurses and firemen and still enjoy the thrill of exploring their neighbourhood after dark – as with current Halloween practice.
By holding an activity and arranging a collection for The Children's Society you are helping to make childhood better for all children.
