Leila, 15The Children's Society helped me get my life back after I ran away from home and started taking drugs – I don’t know what I would have done without them.
Children at risk on the street
Neglect, abuse and isolation can sometimes make home so unbearable that the only solution is to run away, which often leads many children to begging or stealing in order to survive.
We meet these children at their point of greatest need, exploring and understanding why they have run away, and we help them find solutions to the problems they face.
We provide essential drop in services, advice and counselling, as well as a nationally recognised Missing Person Return Interview Programme.
And we campaign for the Government and local authorities to provide essential services and safe accommodation for runaways.
