The Right Track National Initiative (RTNI) is funded by the DCSF to disseminate the best practice of the award-winning Right Track project in Bristol across five Government regions: the South West, West Midlands, North West, Yorks and Humber and Greater London.

Our work focuses on reducing offending, raising aspirations and improving outcomes for Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) young people, including refugee and asylum-seeker young people, in relation to youth justice and the Every Child Matters areas of Stay Safe, Enjoy and Achieve and Make a Positive Contribution. We engage directly with young people aged 11 – 17 through school and after-school group work and projects; we also work to support and enable the families and communities of the young people as well as working in partnership with and delivering training to, youth justice agencies and other organisations and agencies that provide education and support.

Young people work with us on a voluntary basis, we provide a safe and supportive environment for them to explore the issues that they feel are important and which impact on their lives. By enabling these young people to make constructive and empowering life choices, we support them to Stay Safe, Enjoy and Achieve and Make a Positive Contribution and reduce the risk of them offending.

RTNI provides training to the police and youth justice agencies around cultural diversity and engagement, mentoring schemes and youth participation projects. We also offer training around the Every Child Matters agenda and Children and Young People’s Rights for the BME Voluntary and Community Sector, BME Parents & Carers and for the young people themselves.
