Young person at student scheme hosted by the PACT project, posed for The Children's Society

The PACT project supports disabled children and young people in standing up for their rights. We work directly with disabled children and young people, provide accredited training for professional and volunteers throughout the country and consult with children nationally.

We believe that all children can communicate. With the help of our I’ll Go First toolkit and CD-Rom, we train professionals to have the skills, confidence and knowledge to communicate with disabled children and young people who have communication impairments.

Our fully trained student volunteers help 60 disabled children and young people each year to take part in activities in their local communities, develop independence skills and raise self-esteem. We support disabled young people to be included in the workplace and help employers to appreciate the skills, abilities and contribution that they have to offer.

Disabled young people at PACT have assisted the local authority in making adaptations to leisure services to make them more accessible. They are currently working in partnership with schools to help make them more welcoming and accessible to disabled children and young people in the future.
