Comments from Children and Young People we have worked with

Young peoples' views of the service

  • “It felt good knowing that there was no time limit on the amount of sessions a young person can have. It means that you can open up more and build up a better relationship with whoever is supporting you.”

  • “It helped a lot knowing that the service was confidential because you do not have to worry about what you discuss in the sessions. But also was good knowing that if you were in danger they would help you.”

  • “The sessions were comfortable and extremely helpful; you don’t have to just discuss drugs and alcohol. You can talk about family problems, health issues and anything you need to but also sit say nothing or talk about positive things.”

  • “One of the best things about the service is that they see you where you feel most comfortable whether it’s at a relative’s house or in a park. It is really flexible. This is good because it can get you away from an environment where something may be affecting you in a negative way. If you have trouble remembering when you’re appointments are they can text you to let you know. They motivate you to get up for your session and do not give up on you, which impacts positively on the relationship because it shows someone cares.”

  • “The whole EYPDAS team supports you and are all friendly, non-judgemental and appreciative.”

  • “With more funding EYPDAS could help young people like they have myself. They would have the potential to support more youngsters and promote the project.”

  • “I am grateful for what the service has done for me and I would like to see it continue to impact positively on young peoples lives. When I am at the project I feel comfortable and enjoy being there very much. I like the way EYPDAS involves young people in the project and I thoroughly enjoy helping them like they have helped me. “

  • “Everyone at EYPDAS listens to young people s opinions and act upon them, for example I have participated in The Children’s Society website, given my opinion on different posters and how the project looks as well as short listing and interviewing potential employees and the team have all taken my opinion in to account and made appropriate choices considering others views.”

  • “I am not on the youth forum but know some of the work they have done decorating the interior of the project and making it relaxed, modern and welcoming. This has been possible because as I previously mentioned young peoples’ views are taken in to account.”
  • “EYPDAS will try and help you to resolve the situation your in. They will help in many different ways”.
  • “I am able to learn through my mistakes and get ideas”
  • “EYPDAS is easy to get hold of and the workers are happy. They’re very helpful with drink and drugs”.
  • “EYPDAS has helped take me off the streets and put me back a wiser person”.
  • “EYPDAS has basically taken me off the streets, away from all the criminals, drug users and abusers and given me time to reflect on what I have done in my life and what I want in life. And that is to help other young people.”
