Working with Families

Working With Families has been established in Rochdale since 2000. We provide intensive family support and focus on behaviour management techniques. The project is based within Sandbrook Community Primary School, which is a newly built extended school.

We accept referrals from professionals as well as families themselves but our main points of contact are school staff. Referrals are often made as a result of behaviour problems at school. Following a needs assessment we may provide any of the following, parenting courses, one-to-one home-based family support, links and referrals to specialist agencies. We are also able to provide support to children and young people, both individually and in groups. Sessions may include anger management, positive behaviour, social skills and self-esteem.

Project staff are highly trained and qualified from professional backgrounds, including youth work, social work and childcare. We provide only high-quality evidence-based practice that is regularly evaluated by the University of Huddersfield. We are trained in the use of interventions, such as solution-focused therapy, programmes based on the work of Carolyn Webster Stratton, pyramid groups for parents and children, and the Protective Behaviours model

We run several courses to help children and their parents.  See the list by clicking the  link opposite for all courses currently being run.
