The Social Exclusion Unit has been key in setting the policy agenda for young runaways. They have also commissioned a significant amount of research in this area. We have provided a number of SEU documents for reference:-

This is the initial document from the SEU setting out the agenda for this area. The Children's Society responded to the SEU consultation in the same year.

Report on a visit by the SEU to the United States to examine the issue of running away in the US and the policy initiatives explored there.
SEU: Final Report on Young Runaways, November 2002
This report launched a new wide-ranging package of government measures to help young runaways.

Greater Merseyside's Connexions Service, police, social services, health representatives, education and voluntary organisations joined forces to help vulnerable children and young people who go missing or run away from home and care each year.
The Runaways Project Final Report, April 2004
Three national helplines; Childline, Get Connected and the Runaways Helpline, collaborate to explore how their activities could evolve to better meet the needs of young runaways and those at risk of running away. A summary of their report is also available.
