Research Areas
The Children’s Society Research Team focuses its work on five main research areas which contribute to the organisational goals shown under each heading below:
Disabled Children
The legal rights of all disabled children and young people will be upheld so that from an early age they will be heard in decisions that affect their lives
Young Refugees
All laws and practices that protect, safeguard, and promote the welfare of children should be applied to refugee children and young people
In trouble with the law
Children in trouble with the law should be dealt with as children in need and not as criminals
At risk on the streets
The risk of young people on the streets is reduced by a new, flexible approach that meets the needs they identify.
Research area: Children's well-being
The Children’s Society has commissioned The Good Childhood Inquiry – the first national independent inquiry into childhood in the UK and are undertaking a programme of research into children’s well-being.
Other research areas
We also occasionally publish research on other topics, for example children affected by parental substance use and youth volunteering.
