Research area: Children's well-being
Linked to The Good Childhood Inquiry commissioned by The Children’s Society, we have a developing research interest in children’s well-being, with a specific focus on approaching the topic from the perspective of children.
Our research:
We worked jointly with researchers at the University of Wales to produced a report on the well-being of urban young people for the Commission on Urban Life and Faith.
In 2005 we conducted a survey of over 10,000 young people which included open-ended questions on young people’s views of well-being. We published a brief report on the responses to these questions.
We are currently working in partnership with the University of York and Ipsos MORI on a new national survey of children’s well-being which will be conducted in the first half of 2008. The survey will aim to establish a self-reported index of children’s well-being and a base line for ongoing measurement of trends.
