Other research areas
We also undertake research on a range of other topics relevant to the work of The Children’s Society, including:
- the impact of parental substance use on children
- traveller and gypsy children
- youth volunteering
We are currently beginning two substantial evaluative research projects on:
- The Children’s Society’s National Mentoring Initiative
- The work of The Children’s Society’s children’s centres
This is Who We Are
This is Who We Are highlights the extent of racial abuse aimed at children and young people from Gypsy, Roma and Traveller communities in England. The report reveals that more than eight out of ten of those questioned (86%) had suffered racial abuse. Nearly two-thirds (63%) had been bullied or physically attacked.
Youth Volunteering on the Margins
This study looks at three of The Children's Society's projects which have provided volunteering opportunities for marginalised young people. The main focus of the report is on learning from engaging with 'hard to reach' groups, and those who have had difficulties accessing volunteering.
