Measuring Up
A toolkit for improving advocacy practice. Produced by The Children's Society the toolkit includes the Disability Discrimination Act Audit specifically designed for advocacy projects. Measuring Up consists of a booklet, which provides a guide to using the resources and a CD-Rom, which contains the audit tools and materials, designed by young people from The Children's Society projects.
I can tell you what I want.
A DVD showing six disabled young people's thoughts about where they live, their lives and their advocates. Produced as part of an evaluation of The Children's Society's Disability Advocacy Project in London and available direct from the project. There is also an accompanying evaluation report. Contact the project for a copy of this DVD.
How to Ask Us
A learning pack produced by The Children's Society providing information about involving disabled children and young people in decisions that affect their lives and consulting with them about the development of facilities and services. Includes a CD Rom and report about the many methods used in the Ask Us Initiative.
I'll Go First
Available in original toolkit and new CD Rom version - a resource which gives disabled children and young people the opportunity to make their views known in a creative, fun and immediate way. Particularly helpful in preparing for reviews, planning or any other decision making meetings and includes a wide range of story boards and graphics.
Natural Allies report
The Children's Society's PACT project has recently published their evaluation report about the Natural Allies model of advocacy, which the project developed and piloted in two local authorities. Copies of the report are available for free. Please contact the project on 01904 639056.
Two Way Street Video and Handbook - Produced by Triangle and NSPCC 2001
An excellent starting point on how to communicate with disabled children and young people. Also includes a handbook on communication methods used by disabled children.

An image vocabulary for children about feelings, rights, personal care and sexuality. The vocabulary comprises 380 images that are designed to be used as a flexible, child centred resource to support children to communicate about their feelings, bodies, rights and basic needs. Pack includes booklet and CD Rom.
