STARS Birmingham

The Children’s Society’s STARS (Support, Therapeutic, Advocacy and Outreach Services) opened in 2005 and for three years provided an advice service for children aged 13 –18 affected by adult alcohol and drug misuse in the Tyburn, Kingstanding, Stockland Green and Erdington areas of Birmingham. The project also worked with local schools to help raise awareness about drink and drugs.

Unfortunately, when significant healthcare funding was withdrawn in March 2008, The Children’s Society was unable to secure sufficient replacement funding to secure its long-term future.

STARS Birmingham was closed on 31 March 2008.
