The Help and Hope Project North East is based in Newcastle and we work with children and young people aged 0 – 19 years both accompanied and unaccompanied from an asylum seeking and refugee background across the City.
We also work with parents and carers of young people within this age range. We welcome referrals to work directly with children and young people from both the voluntary and statutory sector, professionals and organisations in Newcastle.
We are happy to provide information and advice to professionals working in other local authority areas across the UK and complement the work of statutory agencies, providing knowledge and expertise on refugee issues.
We take a rights-based approach in our work with service users, prioritising their safeguarding needs and enabling their participation in the identification and resolution of issues and concerns. The support we provide is needs-led and varies around issues such as housing, education, access to legal services, play and leisure, care reviews and support through the immigration process. Where we cannot help, we will signpost on.
