The Disability Advocacy Project believes that every child deserves a good childhood. We support and promote advocacy, participation and involvement in decision making for all disabled children and young people. We aim to work with, and on behalf of, all disabled children and young people to ensure that their views, wishes and feelings are known; that they are included in decisions being made about them, and that children’s rights, dignity and equality of opportunity are promoted at every opportunity.
We work closely with disabled children and young people to ensure they receive their entitled services. The young people we work with are often further disadvantaged by using an unconventional communication method, frequently non-verbal. We support young people to engage with issues arising from their placement, education, transition, religion and culture, and family and friends. Through all aspects of our work we aim to improve the experiences of disabled children and young people.
