The Voices project has been established to develop participation with Children’s Fund services and the children and young people who attend these services. We work with them to increase participation in decisions that affect their lives.
We believe that every child and young person living in Newcastle (and the rest of the UK) has a right to be involved in decisions that affect their lives either directly or indirectly. This right is regardless of age, sex, gender, ability, culture, religion or sexual orientation.
The three main strands of work the Voices project carries out are as follows:
- Work with children and young people at a project level to increase their understanding of the decision-making process with an aim to improve their voice within the services they are directly involved with
- Work with service providers, staff and volunteers to increase their understanding of participation
- Involve children and young people in the Voices project, the Children’s Society, Newcastle Children’s Fund in plans and strategies that will affect their lives on a local, regional and national level.
