What do we do?
There are six streams of work that make up the project:
· Health Advocacy - for disabled young people aged eight to 25 who have ongoing healthcare treatment
· Independent advocacy - for disabled young people aged eight to 18, who are often placed away from home. We enable them to be involved in the decision-making processes about their lives
· Personal advisor – for disabled young people aged 18-24 who are leaving care to ensure they get advice and guidance on their rights, benefits and entitlements
· Research and development – we evaluate and develop new methods to increase disabled children and young people participation in decision-making.
· Participation – we work with disabled children and young people in a London borough to be involved in evaluation and redesigning the local services
· Training - we offer two training packages: an introductory course to working with disabled children and young people; and an advanced course looking at ways to involve them in decision-making processes
