- UK Border Agency - "Review into ending the detention of children for immigration purposes (June to July 2010)" (11 June 2010) - highlights the UKBA's public consultation on ending child detention. Submissions can be made by email to ChildDetentionReview@homeoffice.gsi.gov.uk - the deadline is 1 July 2010.
- House of Lords debate - Immigration: Detention of Children (2 June 2010) - A brief debate in the House of Lords on 2 June provided a little more detail on the Government's plans for ending the immigration detention of children.
- The Control of Immigration: Quarterly Statistical Summary (January-March 2010), released by The Home Office in May 2010. These statistics show that 230 children entered detention over the period, 200 children left detention - and of these 200, only 90 were removed from the UK (therefore 110 - 55% - were released back into their communities - their detention having served no purpose).

- Equality & Human Rights Commission - "Refugees and asylum seekers: A review from an equality and human rights perspective" (March 2010). The report comments that "Processes for removal involving detention and deportation have been the subject of sustained criticism on human rights grounds relating to both the policies underpinning the process and its practical implementation. The fact that families with children are detained remains and a range of human rights concerns have been raised as to the implications of this for children."
- The Control of Immigration: Quarterly Statistical Summary (October-December 2009), released by The Home Office in February 2010. These statistics show that 285 children entered immigration detention between October and December 2009. With the release of these statistics we now have a complete picture for 2009, which shows that 1,065 children entered detention in 2009. The statistics also show that only 520 children (just under half) were removed from the UK after leaving detention in 2009, suggesting that half of the children were detained unnecessarily.

- European Council on Refugees and Exiles: Interview with Alexis Deswaef, lawyer of the Muskhadzhiyeva family - On Tuesday 19 January, Belgium was condemned by the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) in Strasbourg for the detention of a Chechen family of four children and their mother in a closed reception centre. The family's lawyer described the court's judgement as "not the beginning of the end of family detention in Belgium but the end itself", and called for Belgium to "use its EU Presidency to push for EU-wide legislation prohibiting the detention of families".

- The Control of Immigration: Quarterly Statistical Summary (July-September 2009), released by The Home Office, shows that a total of 315 children were held in immigration detention between July and September this year – 240 of them under 11 years old.
