How is the money spent?
We want to create a society where children can be children, childhood is respected and every child is valued for who they are. We rely on public donations to help us to support disadvantaged children and the money we receive is spent on these key areas:
- families living in destitution with not enough money to fund basic human needs – without our help, children will remain destitute with their parents or go into care without them
- children who are forced to run away from home or care – protecting them from abuse, crime and prostitution on the street is paramount to us
- children in trouble with the law – we strive to guide them away from a cycle of crime and custody
- disabled children – we work to give them a voice and ensure they are given the choices that other children enjoy
- refugee children – we help to rebuild their lives in new communities, surrounded and supported by friends.

Susan's story
'The Children's Society is brilliant. It’s given me a bit of a kick-start to make something of my life. I’m now going to university to become a social worker so that I can help children and young people who've been through similar problems to me.'
– Susan, a former child runaway
